Description
Leggings are a true wardrobe essential for children, too – comfortable, versatile, and quick to sew. This version is a real feel-good basic: simple, yet with that little extra. Instead of a classic elastic waistband, it features a foldover waistband that’s simply folded down. This makes the leggings comfortable to wear without digging in – perfect for playing, running around, or relaxing.
The pattern is intentionally simple, making it ideal for beginners who want to start sewing with jersey. All seams can be sewn with an overlock or an elastic stitch on a regular sewing machine – straightforward and quick to finish.
The pattern includes multiple marked length options, so you can sew exactly the version your child needs right now:
- Mini Shorts – very short, upper thigh line
- Shorts – mid-thigh length
- Biker Shorts – ending just above the knee
- ¾ Length – ending midway between knee and ankle
- Long – classic full-length leggings to the ankle
If you like, you can get creative when cutting and add panel seams or fabric combinations – turning this basic into a unique favorite piece.
Recommended Fabrics:
Stretchy jersey with at least 15% crosswise stretch. Make sure the fabric is soft, comfortably stretchy, and still shape-retaining – so the leggings move easily with every activity.
In short:
- Comfortable foldover waistband – no elastic, no digging in
- Beginner-friendly – simple construction
- Five marked lengths from mini shorts to long
- Optional: creative panel seams or color combinations
