Printing Instructions for Patterns

Before Printing

  1. PDF Reader: Use Adobe Acrobat Reader for best results.
  2. Check Print Settings: Make sure "Actual Size" or "100%" is selected.
  3. Test Square / 10 cm Line: Each pattern includes a test square or a 10 cm test line. Print a test page first and measure it – it must be exactly the specified size.

Using Layers in the Pattern

Many patterns include a layered PDF.

  1. Open the PDF in a program that supports layers (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Reader).
  2. Show only the sizes you want to sew before printing.
  3. This saves ink and helps you keep track.

Printing Only the Pages You Need

If you don't need all pages of the pattern, you can select specific pages when printing:

  1. Open the print dialog.
  2. Choose "Pages" or "Custom" and enter the page numbers you need.
  3. This way you only print the pages you actually need.

Print Settings

Recommended Settings:

  • Scaling: Actual Size / 100% / None
  • Orientation: Automatic or Portrait
  • Paper Size: A4
  • Double-sided: No (print single-sided)

Important:

  • ❌ Do NOT select "Fit to Page"
  • ❌ Do NOT enable "Shrink to Printable Area"
  • ✅ Use "Actual Size" or "100%"

After Printing

  1. Measure Test Square: The test square must be exactly the specified size.
  2. Tape Pages Together: Follow the markings and overlap lines.
  3. Cut Out Pattern Pieces: Cut along the lines for your size.

Troubleshooting

Test square is too small/large:

  • Check your print settings
  • Disable "Fit to Page"
  • Select "Actual Size" or "100%"

Pages don't align:

  • Check if all pages were printed at 100%
  • Pay attention to the overlap markings
