Required Materials
-
Fabric: see table in the step “Preparation & Cutting”
For front piece, back piece, sleeves, neckband, and neck tape.
Soft, stretchy jersey. Since this pattern has a slim fit, you'll need a fabric with good stretch and recovery – ideally with some elastane content.
-
Sewing Thread: Universal Sewing Thread, Size 120
Suitable for the recommended needle size NM 70-80.
If you have elastic sewing thread, this is ideal for stretchy fabrics.
Required Tools
-
Sewing machine or overlock – with stretch stitch
-
Scissors - A large fabric scissors for cutting and a small thread snip for precise work.
-
Pins or Fabric Clips
-
Measuring Tool
-
Iron
-
Chalk or Fabric Marker – For marking seam lines, choose a removable marking tool such as tailor’s chalk or a fabric marker.
Description
I’m tall, and I know that “sleeves are always too short” problem way too well. That’s exactly why this long sleeve pattern exists: a true everyday basic that fits close to the body without feeling restrictive — and with sleeves that actually reach past the wrist.
This pattern has a slim fit and a crew neckline that’s not too wide and not too tight. It’s great for layering under sweaters without constantly slipping out or feeling uncomfortable.
Difficulty is medium. The instructions are very detailed, so confident beginners can absolutely sew it — the neckline can be the most fiddly part when working with jersey, but with a bit of patience you’ll get a really clean result.
If you love customizing patterns, this one is the perfect base. Add style lines, use contrast thread, or go for prints/iron-ons to make it your own.
Fabric recommendation: Choose a light to mid-weight jersey with good stretch and recovery, ideally with elastane. This keeps the shirt comfortable and ensures the slim fit sits nicely.

- Crew neckline: not too wide, not too tight (great for layering)
