Required Materials
-
Fabric A: 24 x 63 cm | 34 x 85 cm | 35 x 95 cm
Choose a sturdy, non-stretch fabric that is easy to work with.
Only use stretchy fabrics if you have experience working with elastic materials - especially when quilting with stuffing.
-
Fabric B: 24 x 61 cm | 34 x 83 cm | 35 x 93 cm
Use a fabric with similar properties to Fabric A.
It should be soft and smooth so the contents of the case can easily slide in and out.
-
Padding: 24 x 63 cm | 34 x 85 cm | 35 x 95 cm
Depending on your desired look and protection, you can use interfacing, batting, or stuffing.
For an especially soft, padded look, stuffing is ideal as you can fill it into the chambers later.
-
Velcro, 2 cm wide: 7 cm | 10 cm | 10 cm
Used for closing the case.
You can alternatively use other closure types - e.g. snap fasteners or magnetic closures.
-
Sewing Thread: Universal sewing thread, thickness 120 Suitable for the recommended needle size NM 70–80.
Required Tools
-
Sewing Machine
-
Scissors - A large fabric scissors for cutting and a small thread snip for precise work.
-
Pins or Fabric Clips
-
Measuring Tool
-
Iron – For securing interfacing and smoothing sewn parts, essential for a clean finish.
-
Chalk or Fabric Marker - For marking dots and seam lines, choose a removable marking tool such as tailor’s chalk or a fabric marker.
-
Blunt Tool – For shaping corners, such as a corner turner, chopstick, or crochet hook.
Description
Store-bought laptop cases? Too expensive, too technical, or just not my style. So I made my own - with quilting, beautiful fabric, and simple Velcro closure. No high-tech, just a practical, one-of-a-kind piece with style.
The construction is simple, making it ideal even for those who have only completed a few sewing projects. If you're ready to try quilting, you'll get a really high-quality result with extra protection - but the case looks great without quilting too and is even easier to make. The Velcro closure is simple but reliable - open, close, done.
For the outside, use a sturdy, non-stretch fabric like canvas or linen blend. The inside should be as smooth as possible so you can easily slide your laptop or tablet in and out. Depending on the desired protection, you can work with batting, interfacing, or stuffing - and if you like, quilt patterns, letters, or add a label to the flap.
Whether for technology, books, documents, or as a small beach bag - the case is versatile, practical, and a beautiful project with plenty of room for your personal touch.
- Simple & functional: Flap with Velcro, optional quilting - just as you need it.
- Versatile: Laptop, tablet, book, or notebook - fits everything.
- Customizable: Whether quilted, embroidered, or with a label - your style counts.
- Thoughtful materials: Sturdy outside, smooth inside - for durability and comfort.
Sizes: Measurements are interior dimensions
- S (18 × 24 cm): Tablets, e-readers, small notebooks
- M (28 × 35 cm): 13"–14" laptops, iPads with keyboard, school notebooks
- L (29 × 40 cm): 15" laptops, large notebooks, drawing pads
